There has never been and will never be another man like Larry R. Jones. Larry was born in Michigan on February 19, 1944. We lost sweet Larry on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Larry was sick for many, many years and you would have thought he would have given up on life, but Larry enjoyed life and desperately wanted to live even though he was bedbound. Larry never ever gave up and never ever complained. He could not eat because he had a trach and was on peg food even before he had a trach put in. He couldn't move his legs, so he was unable to walk, was on oxygen and vent. Larry was not ready to go, even if all he could do was lie in bed. He desperately wanted to live. He was not ready to go. You would have thought Larry would have become needy, pessimistic, and maybe even jealous of others over the many, many years his body continued to fail him again and again but he never did. He loved people and always found the best in a person . He loved helping others and was good spirited, generous, and kind. He was genuinely funny and loved to laugh. He died in a hospital; he breathed his very last breath in the hospital with his wife and lovingly friend and nurse Cari Vigil telling him how much they loved him. He loved both and trusted both with his battered and sick body.
He worked as a manager at Sight and Sound Appliance, Silo and Montgomery Ward until illness took over. When he worked for Silo, his store was always rated #1. Employees loved him because he always had a positive approach and was skilled at motivating employees.
For years all he could do was lay in bed and watch TV He liked to watch football and Thunder games. He watched Westerrns, Bruce Lee and Scary movies. Earlier when he was able to go outside on the power chair, he would enjoy watching his Koi Fish. He also loved going to Remington Park and bettting on the horses and playing the slots. He loved to dance . In high school he received a trophy for dancing. It was a dictionary. He laughed and said if I knew the prize was a trophy. I would never have entered the contest.
He is preceded by his wife, Chris Jones of 44 years, his sister Grace and brother-in-law Joe Cordell in Michigan, his sister-in-law Pat Jones in Michigan. He was extremely close to his wife's sister Caryl and husband Al in Pennsylvania. Larry often said Caryl was his best friend. The two of them laughed together and when they visited and went to play the slots. They had a special bond. Many nieces and nephews. Many many devoted people to thank who have been there for Larry for many many years through his many illnesses. Thanks to: Charlie Mannon, temporary aide, Ray Vigil, Misty Lynch, Adam and Colby Manning, Kimberly Marshall, Rick and Tammy Buksh, Larry Owens, Kelly Nida, Ray Pool, and the many many others that have been there for Larry.
