Larry Weiss
1938 – 2020
Larry Dean Weiss, 82, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020. Larry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 6, 1938 to Lawrence and Elsie Weiss. He attended the Normal School and later joined the Army National Guard until June 1966.
Larry was married to Mary Lee Weiss on August 29, 1975; they were married 44 years.
Larry worked in maintenance for Macklanburg-Duncan for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing and took many trips with friends to Canada and Lake Murray over the years. On the weekends, he spent time working on old cars with his brother or visiting local car shows. He enjoyed country music and collecting antique radios.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Weiss; a brother, Lannie Weiss; his children Cindy Cochran, Michael Weiss and Michael Hoffner; grandchildren Mary Beth Walker, Katie Altizer, Leslie Pickett, Ginny Grellner, Jessica Dacus, Carly Johnson, Timmy Carey, Raigen Hoffner; ten great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his children, Debbie Hoffner and Jo Lynn Miller; his siblings Louise Perry, Shirley Smeltzer, Merrilea Smith, Charles Weiss, Ernest "Pud" Weiss and his little four-legged buddy Buster Dean.
Graveside service will be held at 9:00 am Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Jones IOOF Cemetery on N Hiwassee Road in Jones, Oklahoma. Reception to follow at Jones Odd Fellows Hall on Britton Road in Jones, Oklahoma. Viewing will be held from 1:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Larry will be remembered for his kindness and honesty; he was one of the good-old-boys. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
