Lawana Florence Dorsey, 91, passed away August 10, 2026, at her home in Edmond, OK.

Lawana was born on April 7, 1935, to Clyde and Nova Waid in Wagoner, OK. Lawana started school in Wagoner but later moved to Tulsa and attended Tulsa Central High School. On July 1, 1953, Lawana married William C. (Bill) Dorsey in Tulsa, OK. They lived in Tulsa until 1957 and then relocated to Edmond. They were married 72 years and have 2 children, Billy Dorsey and Tracey Parsons.

Lawana enjoyed taking care of her family, her home and spending many hours working in her yard and flowerbeds. She was an accomplished seamstress and spent many hours sewing clothes for her sister, daughter, and granddaughter. Lawana always had a counted cross stitch project in the works along with reading mysteries. She enjoyed baking pies, having family over for Sunday dinner, and involved herself in her children's school activities, sporting events and was also a Blue Bird / Camp Fire leader.

Lawana was an animal lover, but her real love was for her cats. She fed the wildlife in her yard including deer, geese, birds, possums, and skunks. Lawana was a loving and giving person helping where she saw the need. Some of her favorite family memories were traveling to Tulsa to spend time with her family, summer vacations to Colorado and Christmas with her family.

Lawana is preceded in death by her father, Clyde Waid, mother, Nova Waid, her husband William (Bill), and sister Juanita Knight. Lawana is survived by her two children, Billy Dorsey and wife Paula, Tracey Parsons and husband Mike, granddaughter Halie Warden, and husband Chris, all of Edmond. Siblings including Sue and husband Ted Johnson of Broken Arrow, OK, Larry Waid of Collinsville, OK and Junior Clyde Waid and wife Cindy of Oologah, OK along with nieces, nephews, and friends.
