Lawrence Alvin Wise passed away peacefully at home on December 24th, 2021 under the care of his loving daughter-in-law Sarah. He was born on April 6th, 1943, in Tulsa, OK, to Clara Wise and Howard Wise, who preceded him in death. Lawrence was also preceded in death by his brothers Elvis Dewayne Wise and Howard Ocie Wise Jr. He is survived by his sister Francis Coffee and her husband Gene, alongside sister-in-law Nancy Wise, all from Edmond, OK, son Lawrence Wesley Wise of Leesville, LA, daughter Lesley Joy of Henniker, NH, son Lon Wise and his wife Sara of Skiatook, OK, daughter Rebekka Harris and her husband Jimmy of Del City, OK, son Ryan Wise and his wife Sarah of Guthrie, OK, adopted daughter Julie De La Cruz of Moore, OK, grandchildren Stefanie Norris, Brittney Thole, Joshua Joy, Talon Wise, Mackenzie Wise, Taylor Wise, and great-grandson Cade Thole.

Lawrence commonly went by the name Larry. He was raised in Edmond, OK, graduated high school there, and he was baptized at and attended the First Christian Church of Edmond. Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years retiring as a First Sergeant. He served at posts in Ft. Lewis WA, Okinawa Japan, Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hood TX, Altus AFB OK, Ft. Eustis VA, Ankara AFB Turkey, Ft. Polk LA, and included a tour in Vietnam. During his time in the service, he worked in missile defense and artillery, was a drill sergeant, a recruiter, and as a liaison.

After his retirement from the army, he graduated from Central State University. He finished his working career at the Oklahoma Tax Commission as a computer programmer. For many years, Larry was an avid square dancer, attending many events throughout the region. He was a lifetime member of the Guthrie VFW. His love for his family was his only passion that surpassed his love for fishing. One thing you could count on, wherever Larry was, he was soon to be fishing.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
