Lena Maurine (Kingsley) Faulkner
1933 – 2023
Lena Maurine (Kingsley) Faulkner passed from this life on December 20, 2023. She was born at her family's home in Nash, Oklahoma, February 22, 1933, to Archie Leonard and Ethel Lulu (Hudson) Kingsley. Lena, as she was known as a child, was shy, an accomplished pianist, and the class valedictorian at Nash in 1950. She then proceeded to Northwestern OSU, where she met Allen Edward Faulkner on the first day. They were married a year later at her family's farm on August 25, 1951. Having not liked her first name of Lena while growing up, Allen encouraged her to use her middle name, Maurine.
Maurine attained a master's degree from UNC in Greeley, Colorado. She taught at various schools in Colorado until they moved their family to Carrier, Oklahoma in 1964 to be closer to family. She taught at the Helena-Goltry schools for a few years. Maurine and Allen started a small horse operation at Carrier, then moved to her hometown of Nash in 1973, where they became full-time farmers, continuing to grow their horse operation.
In 1978, they purchased a horse ranch in Edmond, Oklahoma, and made the slow transition from farmers to ranchers, where Maurine was instrumental on the business side. Later, Maurine worked at various banks in the OKC metro area. She enjoyed Bridge, Pinnacle, crosswords and golfing, especially with her grandson Blake when she was younger.
Maurine was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son (Allen Edward Faulkner II), sister Phyllis and brother Norman. She leaves behind six children: Janet, Mark, Alana (and Jeff LaGrow), Kent, Kimberly and Casey; grandchildren Blake (Jennifer) LaGrow, Austin (Kelsey) LaGrow, and Collin (Barbara) LaGrow, Erica, Toni and Dylan Faulkner; great grandchildren Tripp and Dax LaGrow, and Olivia LaGrow. She also held in her heart as a daughter Renee Gigoux.
