Lillian Patience Ivey died peacefully November 20, 2013 at the age of 97. Lillian was born in Grainola, Oklahoma May 5, 1916 to B.H. and Lillian Mears. The family moved to Edmond in 1929. Lillian received her Bachelor's Degree from Central State Teachers College , Masters Degree from the University of Tulsa and Doctorate of Education from Oklahoma University. Dr. Ivey founded the speech and hearing program at Central State College in 1963, was the first woman president of the Oklahoma Speech and Hearing Association and was outstanding faculty woman at Central State University in 1975. She was recognized for service and many hours volunteered to the Oklahoma Society for Crippled Children and the Oklahoma Easter Seal Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Dale, Stanley and Boise, one sister, Zelma, her first husband Robert E. Fitzgerald, second husband, Charles E. Ivey and two sons, Robert E. Ivey and Dean B. Ivey. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Joe Lenochan of Edmond and wife of Robert, Beverly Lampley of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Chris, Eric and Matt Self, Stacey Amanis and Geoffrey Ivey and Vanessa Ivey and six Great Grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bradford Village Assisted Living and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday November 25, 2013 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with private interment to follow.
