Linda Kaye Baustert

April 18, 1941 – August 7, 2020

Linda Kaye Baustert, 79, died August 7, 2020 after a long illness.  Linda was born April 18, 1941, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Louis and Mabel (Feagins) McKenna.  Linda graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School, Class of 1959.  Following graduation, she attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing and graduated in 1962.  After graduating, she married her long-time love, Donald Baustert.  Don and Linda fell in love through the long-lost art of handwritten letters while Don was stationed in Europe with the Air Force. Married 58 years, they were actively involved in marriage enrichment programs for over 40 years.  They served as team members for Marriage Encounter and led the marriage preparation program at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond for many years.  Together they had a positive impact on the married life of hundreds of couples.

Linda was an advocate for the elderly and demanded quality senior care during her career as Director of Nursing at Mid-Del Manor, Midwest City Regional and Epworth Villa Nursing Homes and as a Nursing Home Inspector for the state of Oklahoma. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her love of family extended to her dear friends. Her warm hugs, welcoming smile and unconditional love will stay with us forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Leonard McKenna, her sister, Carol Gaye Henry, and her nephew, David McKenna.  She is survived by her husband, Donald, sons, Dale Baustert and wife, Carol, of Sand Springs, Dean Baustert and wife, Debbie, of Edmond, daughters, Lisa Tierney and husband, Bill, of Edmond, and Laura Crismon and husband, Shawn, of Tulsa. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, Lauren and Ian Baustert, Louis, Nikolaus, Abbye, and Anna Baustert, Matthew, Ryan and Grace Tierney, and Riley and Claire Crismon and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all family, friends, and healthcare professionals for their support and compassion. A private family-only Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with streaming available to friends and extended family. Those who wish to remember Linda in a special way may make gifts in her memory to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.

The family requests that the service remain private, however you will be able to watch the service at the link below on Thursday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m.
