Linda Carol Deusk

June 1, 1948 — March 24, 2026

Edmond, Oklahoma

Linda Carol DeBusk, age 77, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on March 24, 2026.

Linda was born on June 1, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, to Lowell and Wilda DeBusk. She lived most of her life in Springfield and loved everything about her hometown and Missouri - especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

Linda was a lifelong educator, teaching high school English at her alma mater, Parkview High School, for 41 years. There, she was also a longtime cheerleading sponsor and was known for being a tough but excellent teacher. She loved cheering on her students at many sporting and arts activities.

Linda loved to travel and joined many friends on trips around the world, counting the museums and shops in London and Italy among her favorite places. She was famous for finding a good deal—you could always count on her to know when a sale was happening in Springfield. Because of this, she developed exceptional taste in fashion and jewelry.

If you knew Linda, you knew how much she loved her Scottish Terriers. From Mailie to MacArthur, Angus to Clara, she adored her dogs and filled her home with Scottie memorabilia.

She doted on those she loved. Her friends were showered with thoughtful gifts on birthdays and “just because.” But the greatest recipients of her generosity were her nieces, Jessica and Julia. While she never had children of her own, she played as active a role as anyone could in raising them and made sure they had everything they could want. She gave them their first American Girl dolls, never said no to a stack of books at the bookstore, and flew them to New York, Chicago and beyond. She loved her girls deeply.

Linda was a faithful Christian who taught children for decades on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights at Sunset Church of Christ. She was always giving, always laughing, and always thinking of others.

The last eight years were incredibly difficult, as she lost her well-deserved retirement years to Alzheimer’s. While she may have lost her memory, our memories of her will never be lost.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Lowell and Wilda, and we take comfort in knowing they are celebrating her homecoming.

She is survived by her beloved sister, Debbie (Bill) Blalock of Edmond, who will miss her the most. She is also survived by her adored nieces, Jessica (John) Anderson and Julia (Larry) Roller, who are so thankful to have known life with an aunt like Linda. She was blessed to know her great-nephews, Colton and Owen Anderson and Caleb and Asher Roller, and the joy she found in spoiling them was among her greatest.

She has many wonderful extended family members like her aunt Elaine Ratliff and cousins Cindy Nutter, Janice Parker, Clyde Anthony, Landis Brown and Alan and David Ratliff. She also leaves behind deep, cherished friendships.

A celebration of life will be held in Springfield.
