Louis Eugene Rucker

Louis Eugene Rucker of Edmond passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at his home. The son of Jed and Myra (Beckman) Rucker, he was born September 23, 1946, in Lodi, California.

Known for a keen sense of humor inherited from his beloved Uncle George, Louis lived a life full of laughter and valued hard work. Following his graduation from Putnam City High School in 1964, he entered the United States Air Force and spent much of his time in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he worked for the Oklahoma City Police Department. He then traveled as a cross-country long-haul driver and retired after 29 years.

Louis is survived by his wife of 20 years, Ginger, who he called his "Soul Mate"; son Edward Rucker and wife Patti of Newalla; daughter Kathryn Bolin of Yukon; four grandchildren, Seth Rucker, Nikki Rucker, Levi Bolin, and Emmett Bolin. He is also survived by two sisters, Ginny Tripp (Jim) of Blanchard and Janet Lewien (Jerry) of St. Charles, Missouri; sister-in-law Beth Brewer (Tony) of Yukon, two brothers-in-law Oscar Waltmire of Grand Ledge, Michigan, and Arne Waltmire (Diane) of McHenry, Illinois. Numerous nephews and nieces mourn the loss of their beloved uncle along with several extended family friends.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Edmond, Oklahoma ( www.matthewsfuneralhome.com ). Memorial donations may be made in Louis' name to Misfits, Mutts and Meows, Inc., P.O. Box 84, Crescent, OK 73028.

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home.

Services will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment is set to take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
