Malcolm Milligan of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, with his beloved wife and grandchildren by his side. He was born June 11, 1949, in Hollis Oklahoma to M.L. and Flora Mae Milligan. M.L. and Flora Mae had three sons together; Melvin, Malcolm, and Mickey.
Malcolm graduated from Hollis High School where he was actively involved in American Legion baseball, where he pitched one no hitter in his young career. He was also known to get into a little trouble with his friends including rolling a couple of cars and almost burning a neighbor’s house down. Following graduation, Malcolm proudly served in the Army National Guard for five years. During that time, he met and married Kathy Cornett in Hollis, Oklahoma. They soon moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to begin a family with son Jason and daughter Traci. A loving dad, he found joy in coaching baseball and softball and being present for every moment. He always had a joke ready and was the one to go to when you knew mom would say no. Malcolm, Kathy and his brother Mel and wife Jeannie, blessed their four kids by raising them together at church, baseball, softball and countless events and holidays over the years. This intentional raising fostered deep bonds, made best friends of cousins while shaping a natural expectation of what family should be.
Malcolm and Kathy have attended the Edmond Church of Christ for 45 years. It was where they raised their children and made lifelong friends. Malcolm was in charge of making coffee for the Upwards class for so many years we couldn’t keep track. He also taught class occasionally and sang for a time in the men’s chorus.
Malcolm was full of personality and made everyone feel welcome. He loved people and this helped him throughout his career in sales. He sold everything from groceries as a food broker, to oil field services and ended his work as an estimator in heating and air conditioning. At work, he built lasting relationships and left a meaningful impact on everyone who knew him. Those who worked alongside him and were part of his professional family grew especially fond of him. He had a unique ability to navigate challenging situations, offer thoughtful guidance and lead by example in a way that influenced and inspired others.
Malcolm was many things to many people but most of all he was a treasured Papa. He was at every event for all nine grandkids over the last twenty years. Nona and Papa’s house was the second home for all of the grandkids, making holidays and birthdays so special and full of memories.
We want to say a special thank you to those special people who took such tender care of Malcolm in his last days; Ray Cassaday, Bristol Hospice, and our friends at Visiting Angels, Corey Watson, Tarik Jones, and Steavquann Orange.
Malcolm is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Kathy. Son Jason Milligan and wife Jennifer of Edmond, Oklahoma. Daughter Traci Shipp and husband Jay of Edmond, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Felice, Joe, and Ruby Milligan, Eli, Kodie, Dillan, Emily, Jenna, and Deacon Shipp.
He is also survived by his brother Mel Milligan and wife Jeannie of Edmond, Oklahoma. Nephew Todd Milligan and wife Misty, daughter Elaina. Niece Kari Magee and husband Eddie, daughter Makena and brother Mickey of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
