Margaret Moody Hastings
1918-2020
Margaret Moody Hastings was born May 6, 1918, in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. She grew to be a woman of southern grace and beauty. At 11 years of age she traveled alone by train from Alabama to Oklahoma to live with her sister Della. She attended public school in Pernell, Oklahoma, where she met a handsome young man named James Moody. They were married in 1935. Jim was hired by Mobil Oil and Margaret followed him to Olney, Illinois where their first daughter, Diane, was born. They later moved back to Ratliff City, Oklahoma where their second daughter Pam was born. She was appointed to the position of Postmaster of Ratliff City in 1966. She served in this capacity for 19 years. Margaret was widowed in 1983. A few years later she met and married Frank Hastings and they enjoyed a happy marriage for 20 years. Margaret was preceded in death by husbands Jim Moody, Frank Hastings, and daughter Diane. She is survived by her daughter Pam Beller, husband Ronald Brown, and son-in-law Jack Beller. Also surviving are grandchildren Jim Hale, wife Elisha, and daughters Shara and Jamie; granddaughter Suzanne Cline and son Dace; step daughters Verna Lee Parker and Lela Marie Cash. The family wishes to thank Jessica Guillory and the staff of Sommerset Assisted Living in South Oklahoma City for their compassionate care and devotion to Margaret. A private family funeral will be at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond. Visitation will be held from 12-8 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Mount Olivet cemetery in Pauls Valley, OK.
