1928-2018

Margaret Angeline Reinkemeyer McKenzie, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend died on August 8th, 2018 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Margaret was born on February 14 th , 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She loved her Lord and Savior, and was very active in her church. She was a master gardener and took pride in her beautiful flower gardens and being a part of The Edmond Iris and Garden Society. You could always expect to see her playing on the floor with her many great grandkids, working in her garden, and laughing her joyful laugh. She was an incredibly generous soul, always volunteering her time, and giving to those less fortunate than herself. She was married to her OSU college sweetheart, Homer McKenzie, for nearly 60 years where they had many memorable years celebrating life with friends and family.

Margaret is survived by her sister Dorothy Egan, of Tulsa; son, Ron McKenzie and his wife Kay, of Edmond; son, David McKenzie and wife Linda, of Burleson, Texas; son, Steve McKenzie and wife Penny, of Lipan, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Ellis of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Homer McKenzie; parents, Agnes and Leo Reinkemeyer; two brothers, Gene Reinkemeyer and Bob Reinkemeyer; and one sister, Betty Reinkemeyer.

Visitation will be help at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond on Friday, August 10 th from 12-8 PM with family attending from 5-7 PM. The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Saturday, August 11 th at 2 PM and graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa on Monday, August 13 th at 11 AM. It is impossible to adequately describe the influence this remarkable woman had on her family and friends. She was beloved by many and practically perfect in every way. She will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan House of St. John.
