Margaret Ann (Humphrey) Whaley was born on October 13, 1938, in Salem, Indiana, to Earl and Grace Bressie Humphrey. She graduated from Salem High School in 1956.
Margaret interned as a secretary (administrative assistant) at local law firms in Salem while in High School. She was employed by Arvin Industries in Columbus, Indiana, before moving to Oklahoma, where her two brothers had settled. In Oklahoma City, she continued her career at General Electric and Pan American Petroleum.
She met Benny in late 1964 on a blind date, and they were married in May 1965. She poured her life and love into her family as it grew with the birth of their daughter, Valerie, and their son, Corey. Her family's love was expanded to all the Humphreys and Whaleys.
As Margaret continued her family life, she also had her church life, serving as a church secretary at Bethany Church of Christ, 25th and Geraldine Church of Christ (Northwest), and College Church of Christ (now Memorial Road).
Margaret’s career delight was serving as Office Manager and Receptionist at Oklahoma Christian University’s Health and Wellness Center for over 20 years. The nurses, doctors, and students were very dear to her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, brother John, and brother Bob, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Benny, of the home, daughter Valerie Grace Parker of Edmond, son Corey Wayne Whaley of Oklahoma City, sister Mary Jane Jones (MJ) of Louisville, Ky., her grandchildren Jonathan Parker and Liberty Parker, both of Edmond, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will gather on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, in Edmond, OK, to greet friends and guests.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, OK. Interment is to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
