Marilee (Mayfield) Hattendorf was born on March 3, 1946, to Leo C. and Mary Ruth Mayfield in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She died on August 12, 2025, in Oklahoma City.

Marilee attended schools in the Putnam City School district where her father served as Superintendent for many years. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1964. She also graduated with Baccalaureate (1967) and Master’s Degrees (1969) in Elementary Education from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.

Professionally, Marilee was an elementary school teacher, having taught in elementary schools in Enid, Oklahoma, Kansas City, Missouri and Orvis Risner and Chisholm elementary schools in Edmond, Oklahoma. She retired from teaching in 2010.

She was a long-time resident of Edmond, Oklahoma where she lived with her husband Charles, whom she married in 1967 and sons Douglas Alan (born in 1972) and Brian David (born in 1976).

She will be long remembered by those who knew and loved her as a compassionate, caring and giving individual. A faithful member of Southern Hills Christian Church, Edmond, she led and assisted in helping to serve others less fortunate than she. These services included multiple mission trips with others in her church to Honduras and the Dominican Republic. She instituted and led many years in the church’s “Alternative Christmas Festival” in which handmade Christmas cards were sold to benefit various charities in the area and globally. Whenever her church was involved in mission-related activities Marilee was an active participant.

She is survived by her husband Charles; son Doug and his wife Andrea Hattendorf and daughter Stella Grace; son Brian and his wife Stacy Campbell and sons Logan Campbell, Thaddius Nathaniel Hattendorf, and Brian Dillon Hattendorf. Thaddius is married to Tia Hattendorf, and they have one daughter Natalie Fae. Also surviving are cousins Bruce Kahoe and Linda Bredehoft.

Pre-deceasing her are her father and mother, brother Clifford, her grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family requests that memorials be made to the “Tree of Life” at Southern Hills Christian Church, 3207 S. Boulevard, Edmond, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Southern Hills Christian Church.
