Marilyn Joyce Culbreath, 84, our angel, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, after a brief illness. Marilyn was born July 16, 1941, to Hillyer Bryan Scott and Oma Bee Allen in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School.
She spent many years in the property management industry. Marilyn always had a passion for helping those in need and felt her calling as a nurse. She went on to get her nursing degree and worked at Children’s Hospital and spent many years with the State Health Department as a Long-Term Care Surveyor before retirement.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who was loved by many who knew her. She was full of life and had a ready smile for anyone she encountered. Family vacations were her passion, she was always thinking about the next trip.
Marilyn leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey Varacchi and Hank Varacchi, Edmond, OK; grandsons, Chris Scott and partner, Katie Leighty, Denver, CO; Milton Munro and fiancée Shannon Klemm, Dallas, TX; Brian Varacchi and wife Colby Varacchi, Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughter, Lindsey Montgomery and husband, John Montgomery, Edmond, OK; two sisters, Marie Terry, Oklahoma City, OK; Pattie Edelen and husband Jimmy Edelen, Oklahoma City, OK;, brother and wife, Roy Dean and Debbie Dozier, Edmond, OK; seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Culbreath and daughters, Kelly Lynn Day and Susan Marie Lamb.
The family would especially like to thank the Legacy Family Hospice Care Team for their support and care. We find comfort in knowing that mom’s legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shares and the memories we will cherish forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, OK. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
