Marjorie Rose Hamilton
1928-2018
Marjorie Rose Hamilton was born December 19, 1928 at home near Guthrie to Ethel and Ed Huntleman. She passed away Monday February 5 th at OU Medical Center in Okla. City after suffering a fall in early December. Marjorie grew up near Cashion, OK and later graduated from Deer Creek High School. After working for two years at The First National Bank of Edmond she met and married, James (Jim) Hamilton in 1948 and soon after began her lifelong vocation of raising and caring for her family. James's job in the oilfield required them to move 13 times during their marriage. In 1955 the family moved to the Deer Creek area where they raised their 3 children, never missing a basketball game, baseball game or any other school function. Mom and Dad enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and playing pitch with their friends. After James's death in 1986, Mom continued living at their home in the Heritage Heights Addition until her death. Some of Mom's closest friends were her sewing customers who often came to see her with cookies or brownies and stayed for coffee. One of the greatest joys of her later life was having her family around her playing games and visiting. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, a baby brother, Harold and her husband James. She is survived by her children Lonnie and Joy Hamilton of Eufaula, Wayne and Beverly Hamilton of Edmond, Linda and Mickey Kauk of Yukon, 7 Grandkids and 11 ½ Great Grandkids. She is also survived by her two sisters Dorotha Mason of Deer Creek, Kathern Harman of Ponca City and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Da'jon Colbert, Mom's caregiver during her illness. In a fairly short time, Da'jon has become a part of our family and we will be forever thankful that she came into our lives when she did. Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 11 th from 3:00 – 5:00pm with services Monday, Feb. 12 th at 2:00pm at Matthew Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond.
