Mark Allen Sivils

1965-2023

Mark Allen Sivils, 57, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home July 3, 2023, from complications of diabetes, sarcoidosis, cancer, and heart disease.

Mark was born in Kansas City, MO, to Donald and Evelyn on August 14, 1965. He grew up in Bartlesville, OK, enjoying baseball, motorcycles, and playing music with his family. He was the drummer for "The Sivilians" country band with his dad, and jam sessions with his family continued for many years. He graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1983 and began working in the printing business.

Mark married Karen on August 13, 2004, and was promoted from stepfather to beloved Dad by his son, Andrew, early in the five-year marriage. The three of them shared a love of listening to 80's rock bands, attending countless concerts and meeting numerous musicians and celebrities. Mark's competitive side was always on display when he played video games with his family, especially Bomberman, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, and Madden NFL.

In 2010, Mark reconnected with his high school friend, Kathy. They married May 24, 2012, in an intimate ceremony at Woolaroc just outside of Bartlesville, and he soon became Dad to three more children, Brianna, Blake, and Brandon. Mark was a simple man, only asking for "air conditioning, TV, and Pepsi" when he and Kathy married. They resided in Edmond, OK, and built a life full of cherished friends and treasured memories. Mark and Kathy traveled to many places around the world, but his favorite trip was to Hawaii, which was highlighted by swimming with sharks. Mark was devoted to helping all his kids grow into happy, successful adults, often times through long conversations at family dinners that were central to life at home and included Andrew whenever possible.

Mark made countless friends along the way from all walks of life. He especially enjoyed meeting fellow Corvette owners who quickly became his buddies. He owned five Corvettes and was always quick to go for a joy ride on a warm afternoon with the top down and wind in his "hair." He loved collecting sports and music memorabilia. If either of his two favorite football teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and OSU Cowboys were playing, Mark was watching. Mark loved using his mother's recipes to cook homemade pies for family gatherings. His smile and witty sense of humor will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Don. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn of Bartlesville; his wife, Kathy; three sons, Andrew of Tulsa, OK, Blake and Brandon of Edmond, OK; and his daughter, Brianna of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by his sister, Susie and her husband, David; brother Paul and his wife, Sherri; brother Jeff and his wife, Heather; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK 73003 beginning at 11 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to join the family at their home to eat some BBQ, listen to Mark's favorite music and share memories.
