Mary Elizabeth Alexander

November 29, 1942 — March 20, 2026

Edmond

Our sweet mother, wife, sister and friend, Mary Elizabeth (Allard) Alexander, went to our Lord on March 20th, 2026 in Edmond Oklahoma. She was born on November 29, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Allard, her brother and his wife, John and Mary Allard and their daughter Lisa, her nephew David Allard and her son-in-law Michael Kuvlesky and her brother-in-law, Bobby Sherrick. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Charles “Chuck” Alexander, her daughter Jennifer Kuvlesky and her granddaughter Samantha Dorothy Mejia, great granddaughter Rhea Mejia and son-in-law Nico Mejia of Austin, Texas, her son Brian Alexander of Edmond, Oklahoma, her brother James Allard of Blaine, Minnesota, her brother and his wife William and LuAnn Allard of Sudbury, Massachusetts, her sister-in-law Doris Sherrick of Peculiar, Missouri, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mary graduated from Holy Angels High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she majored in English. Following graduation, she became employed by Honeywell’s Ordnance Division as a technical editor and held a secret security clearance. Mary met her husband, Chuck of 58+ years in Edina, Minnesota on a blind date. After 3 years of Mary playing hard to get, they were married on April 15th, 1967. Subsequently, Mary was employed as a technical editor by Control Data Corporation in Arden Hills, Minnesota, where Chuck also worked. Upon the birth of their first child, Jennifer, Mary left employment and became a stay-at-home mother to raise their children. Mary was an avid volunteer, active in school affairs and became editor for the North Oaks League of Women Voters. In 1983 the family relocated to Edmond, Oklahoma as Chuck became employed by a subsidiary of Control Data in Oklahoma City. Mary continued to volunteer. She was instrumental in establishing the After Prom Party for Edmond High School and served as president and treasurer for Edmond Task Force for Youth as well as Edmond Family Counseling, a counseling center for youth and families. When the kids were in high school, the Oklahoma State Legislature employed Mary where she worked for both the House of Representatives and the Senate at different times, editing and processing legislative material.

Mary and Chuck had a passion for travel and visited over 80 countries and all 50 states. Their most memorable trip was when Chuck was on the first USA trade delegation to the People's Republic of China since normalization of relations in 1979. Mary and Chuck’s last international trip was a month-long whirlwind to the Middle East in 2024.

Mary was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly. Her love for Jesus shined through in her beautiful smile with twinkling eyes, and through her devotion to her husband, children and grandchild. She was very kind and after meeting her most people would say how sweet she is.

She was an avid reader and spent most weekends with a book and a black cup of coffee. She spent hours on the couch reading to her kids when they were young and she’d send recordings of herself reading books to her granddaughter Samantha.

Mary was a gourmet cook and would always come back from her international travels and spend months perfecting recipes she tasted abroad. She shared her love of cooking by hosting dinner parties, baking creative birthday cakes and teaching her kids to cook.

In addition to reading and cooking, Mary loved waking up early and speed-walking with her neighbors, she enjoyed playing bridge and became fond of knitting after retirement. The knitting needles became handy to poke her husband awake during their long-distance drives.

A mass is being planned to celebrate Mary and her new life with Christ at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 900 S Littler Avenue in Edmond, OK with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to FARA at curefa.org, an organization that supports research for treatments and cures of Friedrich’s ataxia.
