Mary Jane Coffman, passed away on February 27, 2026, at the age of 61 while vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico. Born on March 31, 1964, in Casper, Wyoming, Mary Jane was the cherished daughter of Leroy and Alice Ann Coffman, both of whom predeceased her.

Mary Jane's journey in education was marked by her remarkable intellect and dedication. She graduated from Harrah High School in Harrah, Oklahoma, in 1982. Her quest for knowledge led her to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Letters with the highest honors in 1986. While at OU, she was active in Kappa Delta sorority and was chair of the Student Congress. Her academic pursuits continued as she earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, in 1989. Her time at these esteemed institutions not only honed her intellect but also ingrained in her a deep sense of justice and compassion.

Mary Jane's professional path began in the legal realm, where she worked for several law firms. However, it was in serving others through the American Red Cross in Disaster Services that she found her true calling. Her career was a testament to her boundless empathy and unwavering dedication to helping those in need during their most challenging times. Through her work, Mary Jane touched countless lives, offering hope and solace to those facing adversity.

Her life was enriched by her diverse interests and hobbies. An avid sports enthusiast, she could often be found cheering on her beloved University of Oklahoma, University of Virginia, and University of Central Oklahoma teams. Her love for the arts drew her to the vibrant OKC Broadway productions, where she shared countless evenings with her beloved sister, Donna. She also was a member of the Spirit Act drama troupe at the First United Methodist Church of Edmond.

Mary Jane's passions extended beyond the stage and stadiums. She was an ardent book lover, and her home was adorned with her cherished collections of angels and giraffes, each piece telling a story of her life’s journey. Her zest for life was evident in her love for travel, instilled in her by her father, embracing new places and experiences with open arms and a curious heart.

Mary Jane leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, carried forward by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna, and Bradley Beardmore of Edmond, OK, and her dear aunt and uncle, Mary Ellen, and Bob Petricek of Harrah, OK as well as many dear friends and extended family.

Mary Jane's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those she leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of empathy, love, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place.
