Mary Janice "Jan" Grigg
1940 – 2025
Mary Janice "Jan" Grigg, lovingly known as Jan, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 85. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, Jan lived a life full of grace, dedication, and love for her family and community.
Born on February 24, 1940, in Sentinel, Oklahoma, Jan grew up on the family farm, where she learned the values of hard work and perseverance. She married the love of her life, Jack Grigg, in 1958—a partnership that spanned more than six decades, filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Jan earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Southwestern State University and spent 26 years shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. In 1984, she and Jack founded Davis Pipe & Supply, where Jan handled the bookkeeping and payroll in the evenings. After retiring from teaching in 1986, she joined the business full time and continued working in the office until she retired in 2020.
Jan had a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed spending her free time china painting and cross-stitching. She especially loved weekends at the family's home on Grand Lake, surrounded by those she cherished most.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Grigg; her son, Cory Grigg of Edmond; her daughter, Brook Burke and husband Jeff Burke of Edmond; her grandchildren, Gage Burke and West Burke, of Edmond; and her in-laws Bob and Carleen Whinery of Dill City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Gussie Davis; her brothers, Larry Davis (and wife Betty) and Duane Davis (and wife Doreen).
Jan's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
