On Dec. 21, 2013 Mary Kimble went home to be with her Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held on Friday Dec. 27 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Edmond, OK.

Mary Weems Kimble born on 8-7-1928 in the Mars Hill community near Summit, MS to the late Joe Louis and Angie Havers Weems. She graduated from Mars Hill High School in May 1946 where she excelled scholastically as well as being an accomplished singer. She was the lead vocalist for her school choir. She graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College at Wesson, MS in May 1948 where she continued to develop her singing talents and was selected for the vocal lead in the school operetta her senior year. On May 23, 1948, at the age of 19, she married her college sweetheart James Paul Kimble and they had a long, loving, life together.

Two sons were born into this marriage. Her husband and sons Robert Louis Kimble and wife Luz of El Paso, Texas and James Paul Kimble Jr. and wife Lynn of Edmond, OK survive her as well as Grandchildren Allison, Matthew and Sean Kimble of Edmond, OK. A brother Joe Louis Weems Jr and his wife Dianne of Baton Rouge, LA, her sister Nancy Weems Campbell of Summit, MS, and Sister-in-law Adonis Kimble of Shreveport, LA also survive her. She also has many nieces, nephews and cousins. Early in her marriage she and her husband lived in New Orleans, La and later with their sons lived in Jackson, MS, Monroe and Shreveport, LA before moving to El Paso, Texas in 1969.

In addition to her family responsibilities she often found time to work in accounting offices in the cities where she lived. In El Paso she for a number of years was associated with the "Cardwell Companies" including Arrow Building Corp. doing accounting and marketing prior to retiring in 1993. She was a longtime active member of Trinity-First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for a number of years and was a member of the Wedding Band Sunday School Class. She was an excellent seamstress and this was her lifelong hobby.

She pieced and hand quilted over 35 full sized quilts and also did a number of blankets for Project Linus. She loved gardening and those living in her neighborhood always admired her flowers. She truly had a "green thumb". After her retirement she, with her husband, traveled extensively and she enjoyed developing her photography skills. Through her photos she leaves behind many memories of their travels and family events. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and after retirement she enjoyed spending many hours of quality time with her grandchildren through regular visits and family vacations. She was a very talented person and will be long remembered. In Nov. 2012 she along with her husband moved to Edmond, Ok to be near family members and lived in their newly built home at Touchmark Retirement Village.

Through the many beautiful flowers around her home you could see that she continued to have that "Green Thumb". She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Edmond. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund at Trinity-First United Methodist Church El Paso, TX or First United Methodist Church Edmond, OK. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Edmond, OK.
