Mary Grace Stephenson, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on August 19, 1934, in Cove, Arkansas to Fred and Mary Gladys Hunter.

Mary Grace graduated from High School in Mena, Arkansas, in 1952. She pursued her passion for learning by attending the University of Texas at Arlington, Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, and the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Social Work, preparing her for a lifetime devoted to serving others.

She married the love of her life, Jim Stephenson, and together they made their home in Anadarko, Oklahoma, where they raised their four children. She was a devoted wife and mother who poured her heart into her family.

Mary Grace had an adventurous spirit and a love for the outdoors and found her life’s calling in public service, dedicating more than 30 years to the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. Throughout her career, she was a compassionate advocate for those in need.

Her commitment to serving others extended well beyond professional life as she was a faithful volunteer in her church and community.

Mary Grace was also a wonderfully social person who treasured the friendships she built throughout her life and will be remembered for her humor, unwavering faith, kind heart, and deep compassion for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Jim Stephenson; her brother, Larry Hunter; and several other cherished family members.

She is survived by her sister, Leanor Belvin of Stillwater, Oklahoma; her sister-in-law, Nelda Hunter of Grand Prairie, Texas; her four children: Cindy Browder of Edmond, Oklahoma; James Stephenson (Sandee) of Seguin, Texas; Pam Griffith (Emmett) of Salem, Oregon; and Renee Stevenson of Springfield, Louisiana two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many family members and countless friends whose lives she touched..

Public visitation will be held prior to the beginning of the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Quail Springs United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Quail Springs United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
