Mattie F Ball was born October 17, 1921 in Waynesboro, MS as the 2nd of five children to J.E. and Letha Stanford. Much of her youth was spent in Tipton, OK, until moving to Oklahoma City where she graduated from Classen High School. In 1946, she married the love of her life, O.C. Ball. From this marriage, one daughter, Katherine Jane, was born in 1948. After O.C.'s death in 1978, Mattie was employed by several mortgage companies in the Oklahoma City area. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four siblings, a nephew, and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Kathi and husband, Don DeSpain of Edmond, 2 grandchildren, Jeff and wife Erin DeSpain of Oklahoma City, and Jennifer DeSpain of Tulsa. She is also survived by the treasure of her last year of life, her great-granddaugher, Quinn Kathryn DeSpain of Oklahoma City and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday, October 31st at 1:30 PM at First Christian Church of Edmond under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Macular Degeneration Foundation or Breakfast on Boulevard at First Christian Church.
