1925-2014

Max F. Dunn, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 13, at his home in Edmond, Ok. He was born in 1925 at Romulus, OK, to Streeter and Rosa Dunn. He graduated from Shawnee High School in May, 1943.

He entered the U.S. Maritime Service in September, 1943, serving 26 months aboard U.S. merchant oil tankers.

He married Mildred Luckett in 1945. He began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company at Seminole, Coalgate, Ada, Shawnee, and Oklahoma City. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma City University in June, 1972.

Max and Mildred travelled to Iran to work in 1978. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri, when they returned and then back to Oklahoma City until retirement in 1985.

Max was an active member of the Edmond Church of Christ, making annual mission trips to Mexico and was a volunteer with "In Search of the Lords Way" TV ministry. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed RV travel with the Sooner Schooners Club; he enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He was an active member of the Oklahoma Chapter of Merchant Marine Veterans.

Max was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marion Dunn, and three sisters: Marguerite Dobbs, Mildred McNair, and Merledene Barker.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home and four daughters: Lucille Blackwell and Phil of Richardson, Tx.; Beth Dennis and Gary of Lubbock, Tx.; Donna Tabor and Gary of Lacey, Wa.; Melody Baltz and Phil of Tulsa, Ok. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Edmond Church of Christ Chapel with burial at Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Search TV program at the Edmond Church of Christ or a charity of choice.
