Michael "Mike" John Heinen, 61, passed away on September 7, 2016 in Edmond, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 10 th at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Avenue, Edmond, OK.
Mike was born on April 13, 1955 in Oklahoma City and resided in Tulsa for the last 31 years. Mike graduated from Oklahoma State University and continued to support the Cowboys as an avid football fan. Mike was a great fisherman and enjoyed casting anytime he came upon some water. He was a proud Uncle that rarely missed a sporting event or a chance to spoil his nieces and nephews. Mike was a selfless and loving son. He left his home in Tulsa to spend eight years as the primary caregiver for his mother, Mary, after she suffered a stroke.
Mike is survived by his brother, Paul and wife Lori Heinen of Edmond, OK, sister Donna and husband Steve Sandman of Belleville, IL, nieces Stephanie, Hayley, Heidi, and Hope, nephews, Kyle, Aaron, and Braxton, great nieces Turner, Carter, and great nephew Daxton. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary Heinen.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to OSU Coaches vs. Cancer.
