Dr. Michael Orval Williams, of Edmond Oklahoma died in the care of hospice, surrounded by his family on August 2, 2018. Michael is survived by his wife Carol Williams of Edmond, OK, and children Nathan Williams and Kelsi Williams also from Edmond, Ian Williams and his wife Amber from Tulsa, OK, and Taylor Williams from Oklahoma City, OK. He also is survived by his brother Dr. Ron Williams and his spouse Connie Williams from Montgomery, Texas and three grandchildren, Melody, Jayden and Kiera Williams. Mike was preceded in death by his son Sean Williams from Oklahoma City, OK and his parents Orval and Maxine Williams from St. Louis, MO.

Michael was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 10, 1948 to Orval and Maxine Williams in St. Louis. A very close family, he and his younger brother spent much of their time together enjoying sports and attending St. Louis Cardinal Games at Sportsman's Park. Michael attended the University of Missouri in St. Louis, and then went on to Medical School at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, with residencies at both Barnes Hospital of St. Louis and the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. Over his near 40 year career, he worked with Orthopedic Associates, Oklahoma Sports Science and Orthopedics, and Integris Orthopedics of Edmond. His practice was exclusively adult reconstruction surgery. Along with his many accomplishments he was also published and was a designer of various orthopedic nails including the Vector and Y Nail for femoral fractures Early on, he was a clinical investigator for the Ilizarov procedure, which provided early mobility for many patients. There was no fracture he was reluctant to repair.

In addition to his illustrious career, Michael was accomplished in singing, playing the guitar, and woodworking. He could make beautiful things from just scraps of wood and could repair anything. He was passionate about history, and knowledgeable on countless topics, but especially loved anything that was related to trains, planes, and motorcycles. Michael was hard a working individual and though opinionated, was adored and loved by many. He will be remembered as always placing his patients first while being a trailblazer in many unique procedures that are now practiced routinely. Mike passed away peacefully in the hospice house after a long illness. He was surrounded by the love of all his family members. He truly was leader in his field and a great father, husband, brother, and colleague. He will be deeply missed.

A funeral is scheduled at 2:00 at the Edmond Church of Christ on 9 th and Bryant on August 6, along with a graveside service at Grace lawn Cemetery in Edmond to follow. Everyone is welcome to celebrate this wonderful man. To honor the great care Mike received at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, Jim Thorpe 3 EAST, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the INTEGRIS Foundation 3030 NW Expressway, Ste. 1600, OKC, OK 73112.
