With unwavering faith, Mura Elizabeth “Bette” Dirickson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2026, at the age of 90.
Bette was born on November 12, 1935, in Mena, Arkansas, the second of three children. From an early age, she was known for her adventurous spirit, independence, and strong will. As a young teenager living in Marlow, Oklahoma, she met Ted—who famously surprised her with a kiss during high school play practice—and later became her devoted husband of nearly 65 years.
Together, Bette and Ted built a life centered on family, raising their three daughters while living in various parts of Oklahoma due to Ted’s career in the oil and gas industry. Bette devoted her early years to raising her children before pursuing her education in computer science during the early days of the field. She went on to become the first Data Processing Manager at Enid Memorial Hospital in the early 1970s, a role she deeply enjoyed and took great pride in.
In 1981, Bette and Ted made Edmond, Oklahoma their home, where she later worked in real estate. Above all, Bette cherished her family. She was lovingly known as “Gran” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
Bette had a love for dancing, playing cards, cooking, and spending time at the family farm and lake. She was an enthusiastic supporter of Thunder basketball and Sooner football. Her Christian faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she was a devoted member of Chisholm Creek Baptist Church.
She was welcomed into heaven by her beloved husband, Ted Dirickson; her parents; her brother, Warren; her sister, Linda; and several brothers-in-law.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughters—Teddi and husband Guy Cuccio, Ashley and husband David Hall, and Ellie and husband Chad Miller; her 8 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of family, friends, and caregivers who will miss her dearly.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Chisholm Creek Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma.
