1951-2013

Nancy S. (Sam) Decker went to live eternally with her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Nancy was born to Harold Smith and Velva Bevan Smith on August 6, 1951 in Lincolnville, Ks. She graduated from Centre High School in Marion County, Kansas in 1969. She started a career in banking after high school. On July 14, 1978 she married James Byron Decker, the love of her life. Nancy and Jim both retired from banking in 1986 from Anadarko Bank and Trust, Nancy as a Vice President.

Nancy's calling in life was helping other people. She was a pillar of faith, wisdom, and strength at New Covenant United Methodist Church in Edmond, serving in many different roles. Her love for Christ motivated her to care for others through mission trips, Kairos Prison Ministries, and the Emmaus community.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Harold Smith; her oldest sister, Donna Clark; and her beloved husband, James Decker. She is survived by her mother, Velva Smith; sisters: Sharon Kuether and husband Greg of Andover, KS; Barbara Reeder and family of Park City, KS; and Kathy Johnson and family of Park City, KS; step-daughters: Victoria Buel, husband Robert and their children Matthew, Katherine, and Cynthia of Manhattan, KS; Mary Decker of Kansas City, MO; Marti Decker of Portland, OR; and daughters: Angela Decker and Amy Decker, both of Edmond and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Nancy's memory to the New Covenant United Methodist Church Children's Building Fund (2700 S. Boulevard, Edmond, OK 73013), or the Kairos Outside Prison Ministry (Kairos Prison Ministry, P.O. Box 54383, Oklahoma City, OK 73154 – please specify "Kairos Outside" on your payment).

A memorial service to honor Nancy's life will be held Saturday, July 13, at 11 am at New Covenant United Methodist Church, Edmond, OK. (A memorial service will be held in Enterprise, KS at a future date.)
