Nancy Jo Niavarani

March 28, 1957 – April 2, 2021

On Friday, April 2, 2021, Nancy Jo Niavarani, loving wife, mother of two, and grandmother of four, passed away at the age of 64 at her home.

Nancy was born on March 28, 1957 in Vinita, OK to Oran and JoAnn Fluke. After graduating high school in Miami and attending Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Nancy married her husband, Bijan, and moved to Edmond, OK, where they raised two daughters, Candace and Layla.

Nancy loved watching football (especially the University of Oklahoma, despite yelling at the TV after bad plays), playing cards with "The Card Crew", spoiling and loving her grandchildren, and making sure everyone felt special on their birthday. Nancy always showed an immense amount of appreciation when given any thoughtful gift, especially if it related to Rachael Ray, The Pioneer Woman, or Steve Harvey. She never took the simple things in life for granted; she loved a coke with peanuts, celebrating every holiday, listening to Bon Jovi, and spending time with her family.

To those lucky enough to be close to Nancy, they know she was a caring spouse, loving mother, beloved "Mema" to her grandchildren, and a lifelong friend. They also know that Nancy lived life the way she wanted to live it – and no one could tell her otherwise. Like Bon Jovi said: "I just wanna live while I'm alive. It's my life."

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother JoAnn, her father Oran, and her brother Kent. She is survived by her husband Bijan, her sister Natasha Nieze, her two daughters Candace Chao and Layla Krauss, and four grandchildren: Zoey, Kiera, Teagan, and Cyrus.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 9 at 2:00 PM at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ).
