Napoleon Packer Jr. was born in Purcell, Oklahoma on July 21, 1942, to Napoleon Packer Sr. and Annie May Kennedy. He passed away at the age of 80 in Edmond, Oklahoma on Monday, May 15, 2023.
Napoleon went to Purcell High School and later got his GED. He joined the Army in 1961 where he served in Vietnam. He was in the service for seven years. Napoleon was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Expert (Rifle) Combat Infantryman Badge. He worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation most of his life until he retired.
In 1974 Napoleon and Mary Roberta Collins wed. They later had their daughter Tammy Onan. Napoleon "Buck" and Mary were married for 49 years.
Napoleon enjoyed listening to music, watching sports, and playing dominos. He was always telling one of his stories of places he's been and what he's seen. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish. Napoleon brought so much laughter to his friends and family's lives.
Napoleon was preceded in death by wife Mary Roberta Packer; parents Napoleon Packer Sr. (father) and Annie May Kennedy (mother). Napoleon is survived by: daughter Tammy Onan and husband Norman; stepson Clarence Johnson; Grandchildren: Damon Johnson and his wife Maddison, Julian (JuJu) Lane; Cora and Stoney Onan; Seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma.
