Nelson J. McClure

Nelson J. McClure, 88, of Edmond, OK, passed away December 11, 2013 in Edmond. He was born June 19, 1925, in Short Creek, WV, to Lewis William and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) McClure.
Nelson worked for Windsor Power House Coal Company from 1946-1987until his retirement. He also worked as a mechanic and electrician. In addition, he worked for the National School of Meat Cutting as a butcher from 1960-1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lewis and Clarence (Buzz) McClure. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; sons, Nelson E. McClure & wife Chris of West Liberty, WV and Terry McClure & wife Joan of Short Creek, WV; daughter, Wanda (McClure) French of Edmond, OK; brothers, Lionel McClure & wife Helen of Warwood, WV and Harold (Duck) McClure of Short Creek, WV; grandchildren, Doug McClure of St. Clairsville, OH, Lisa McClure of Lore City, OH, Jason Potter of Edmond, OK and Scott McClure of Windsor Heights, WV; as well as his nephews and 3 great grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nelson to the Peppers Ranch (P.O. Box 3814, Edmond, OK 73083), which is a foster care community for abused and neglected children.
