Noland F. Simpkins
1925-2020
Noland F. Simpkins, 95, went home to his heavenly father on June 4, 2020, born in St. Louis, attended Stratford High School. He served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945 in the Philippines and Japan. He met his wife, Hazel D. (Skelly) in Stratford, OK and they married in Pauls Valley, OK on Jan. 29, 1947. He drove a truck for (Allied Foods) Humpty Dumpty out of OKC for 37 yrs. He was a member of the Masonic Temple. He has been a member of FBC Edmond since 1996. He was always hard working, working long hours wanting better for his family. He loved driving his truck, his family, being a craftsman, and gardening. As a child he was nicknamed "Buddy" and also loved to give other people nicknames. He loved teasing his grandkids and great grandkids. His hobbies included drawing, woodcarving, and fishing. He was honored to meet Sen. James Lankford while touring the WW II memorial on an Oklahoma Honor Flight in 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings including his twin brother, Roland, at age 9 and his son Scott. Survivors are his wife, Hazel of 73 yrs, Edmond; daughter, Donna and husband Don Parker, Edmond; granddaughters, Dana Jones, Shawnee, OK; Julie Simpkins, OK; Carrie and husband Everett McGovern, OKC; grandsons, Dustin and wife Beth Parker Edmond, Jason Simpkins, OKC; great grandchildren McGregor and wife Becca Jones, Houston, TX; Maycee Jones, Memphis, TN, and Malley Jones, Stillwater, OK; Lance and Scott McGovern, OKC. Paisley Simpkins, Chickasha; Nolan and Carly Parker, Edmond. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens OKC. Memorials can be made to Homebound Ministry, EFBC.
