Ona Jean (Jeanne) Hardy Childers Steidl, 89, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away February 24, 2015. She was born February 21, 1926, in Hominy, Oklahoma, and was the first child of Gordon and Violet Hardy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lyon B. (Lee) Childers, her second husband Robert (Bob) Steidl, and her brother Gordon (Bud) Hardy of Oklahoma City. She is survived by her sisters Patty Wooldridge and Jeri Brown (husband David), and her two children, Nancy George (husband Joe), and Steven Childers (wife Becky). She is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and preceded in death by one great grandchild.
Jeanne was a devoted Christian who helped start and develop Heritage Presbyterian Church beginning in 1977. She often showed her love for God and others through her ministry of hospitality in and through her church.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 28, at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 14500 N. Western Ave in Oklahoma City with a graveside service following at Memorial Park Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edmond Mobile Meals, 25 West 3rd Street, Edmond, OK.
