Opal Irene Pemberton

Opal Irene (Corkle) Pemberton was born on December 15, 1926, to Nellie and Alfred Corkle in Oklahoma City, OK. She had three brothers—Eugene, Robert, and Vernon Corkle—and two sisters, Lila Singleton and Peggy Rose. Opal was a graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City. Her first job was at the TG&Y store.

On November 16, 1946, she married the love of her life, Elmer Pemberton, and their adventure began. They were blessed with four children: Christy Rae, born in Amarillo, TX; Linda Kay and Ricky Roy, both born in Honolulu, HI; and William Earl (Billy), born in Bangor, ME. Opal joined Elmer in an active life of bowling, golfing, and traveling cross-country in their RV. Elmer and Opal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip back to Hawaii. They were living in Alamogordo, NM, when Elmer passed away.

Elmer's passing brought Opal back to Oklahoma. Opal lived in her cottage for over 20 years. She was a very creative seamstress, artist, and great cook, and her cognitive sharpness was amazing. She leaves behind one sister, two daughters, one son, two nieces, seven nephews, four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. For 99 years, she shared her love of family and friends.
