Owen Riley Black III, known by all as Skipper and as Poppy by his grandsons, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 7, 2026. Skipper was born to Owen Riley Black Jr. and Marjorie Hayes on September 1, 1946, in Oklahoma City where he was raised and lived all his life. 

Skipper is survived by his son, Adam, and daughter in law, Tracy, his three grandsons, River (17), Cruise (15), and Major (13), all living in Windsor, Colorado, his two sisters, Sheri Crenshaw of OKC, Patty Hain of Atlanta, Georgia, and his constant companion, Flip. 

Skipper loved his family, friends, all sports, motorcycles, and his dogs.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held at the Mathews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, OK on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. Come casual and share a funny story or a memory of Skipper.

Skipper asked that any donations in his memory be made to Water4.org and Free To Live Animal Sanctuary in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
