Patricia Ann Chesshir

Patricia Ann Chesshir, 75, died August 11, 2026 in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born July 23, 1951 to Imotha (Thomason) and Bob Garner in Olney, TX.

Patricia became an Okie when her family moved to Oklahoma when she was three years old. She grew up in Ardmore before moving to Enid, OK the summer before her senior year of high school. She graduated from Enid High School in 1969. Patricia attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa before attending Central State University in Edmond. She grew up being an avid OU sports fan and remained a true Sooner all her life.

After attending one year at UCO, Patricia began her career working for Mark Twain Life Insurance Company in Oklahoma City. During Patricia’s 47-year career she worked for the insurance company, the Enid Chamber of Commerce/Garfield County Development Alliance, Cinderella City Mall in Denver and Michaels Arts and Craft Corporate offices in Texas. She met Ernest Chesshir on a blind date and four years later they married on May 17, 1980. They were blessed with two precious children, Ashley and Bradley. During her married life, her family lived in Enid, OK, Denver, CO and Flower Mound, TX.

Patricia was always active volunteering with her children’s school activities, in her community and church. She served on several community boards, was a member of various career and professional organizations and enjoyed advancing her career through educational management opportunities, She proudly served the Enid community as a member of the Enid Junior Welfare League where she served as committee chairs and held several officer positions. Patricia was a member of the Memorial Road church of Christ, attending the Cornerstone Bible class and was a member of NEST and SWAG for widowed ladies. She became an advocate for the mentally ill after losing her son to this disease and was active in NAMI, the National Association for Mental Illness.

Patricia was happiest when she was with her family. Watching her children and grandkids grow up and being at their school and extra-curricular activities was the joy of her life. While living in Colorado she and her family enjoyed hiking, mountain biking, snow skiing and camping. Patricia loved each and every holiday and enjoyed sharing them with her family and extended family. After retiring, Patricia moved from Texas to Edmond, OK to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. Nothing brought her greater joy than being Mema to Jaley, Chasen and Avery. She cherished her daily moments with them and took immense pride in the people they were becoming. When she wasn’t spending time with her grandkids and children, she loved playing cards with her friends. She also loved all her Shih-Tzu’s she had throughout her life and was especially thankful for the love and companionship that her final one, Missy, gave her.

Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Garner, her husband, Ernie and her son, Bradley. She is survived by her daughter, Ashley and her husband, Clint Jennings and their three children and her adorable grandkids, Jaley, Chasen, and Avery Jennings of Edmond, OK, many extended family and friends. Patricia often said how blessed she was growing up to have had two wonderful sets of grandparents, a loving mom and dad, an older brother, and a close extended family. She had 34 amazing years being married to a gentle, caring husband and said her greatest accomplishments were her two precious children and ultimately her three sweet grandkids. Each and every one of these people made her the person she was. Patricia tried to live her life that was pleasing to God by being a loving daughter, caring sister, devoted wife, proud mother, a fun and loving Mema and a loyal friend.

A Service to honor the life of Patricia Ann Chesshir will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma. Interment will be August 15, 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Charlie Cemetery in Charlie, Texas.
