Patricia Ann Shurley, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Edmond, Oklahoma, on March 11th, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 7, 1940, in Evening Shade, Arkansas, to Robert and Louise Street, Pat's life was a beautiful reflection of her love for family, her dedication to service, and her passion for helping others.
Pat's journey began at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas, where she met and married Richard Shurley, in 1959. They raised two children, Richard Joseph Shurley Jr. and Kimberly Ann Colibert, whose lives were forever touched by Pat's selfless love and guidance.
A woman of incredible work ethic, Pat dedicated herself to her career as an office manager, first at Cole and Reed and later at Arledge & Associates but it was her service to others that truly defined her life. Pat's commitment to making the world a better place was evident in her many years of involvement with Lions Club International. As the first woman to serve as an International Director, she broke barriers and served as a beacon of leadership, advocating for those in need and embodying the values of compassion and generosity. Through her work with the Lions, and many other foundations, Pat's heart found its calling in helping children, particularly through the Hope for Haiti organization. She touched countless lives, and her legacy of kindness and service will forever be remembered.
Pat's greatest joy in life was her family. She leaves behind her son, Richard Shurley Jr. and his wife Kim; daughter, Kimberly Ann Colibert, and her husband, Mikel; sister, Judy Smithson and her husband, Roger; and her cherished grandchildren: Candace and Justin Tucker, Joey Youmans, Brittany and Kevin Pruett, Amber and Kevin Payne, and Kelsie and Tim Cochran. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren who filled her heart with endless joy.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Louise Street; her sister, Zena; her brother, James; and her son-in-law, Mark Wade.
A memorial service will be held on April 4th, 2025, at 2pm at Edmond Church of Christ to celebrate Pat's remarkable life, with interment to follow in Searcy, Arkansas at White County Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Lions Eye Bank and Hope for Haiti Edmond Church of Christ, continuing Pat's legacy of service and generosity.
