Patricia Ann Trout Wharton, 88, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born on October 22, 1936, in Pryor, Oklahoma, she was the beloved daughter of Andy and Velma Trout.
Raised in Pryor with her siblings Betty, Doris, & Andy, Jr., Patricia's early years in Pryor were filled with accomplishment and community spirit. She graduated from Pryor High School in 1955, where she was editor of the school paper, Quill & Scroll president, cheerleader, homecoming queen, and a source of pride to her family and hometown. She went on to attend Northeastern A&M College, where she was a proud member of the Norse Stars.
Her career was spent in service to young people as a high school secretary in both Chickasha and Edmond Public Schools. With her bright smile, kind words, and gentle guidance, she touched countless lives and left a lasting mark on students, faculty, and families alike.
Throughout her life, faith was a cornerstone. She was actively involved in serving her church communities wherever she lived. Whether helping prepare & serve weekly community meals, serving as an elder or helping to launch a newly formed church, her devotion to her faith & community was boundless.
Above all, Patricia's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving, devoted mother to Terri and Craig, grandmother to Brandi, Carli, and Tre, and great-grandmother to Dax, Dane, and Bradlee. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she found her truest fulfillment in supporting and celebrating them in every stage of their lives.
Patricia's light shone brightly in every room she entered, and her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her son, Craig Carlton, granddaughter Brandi Brown & husband, Derek Brown, granddaughter Carli Wester, grandson, Tre Evans, & three great-grandchildren, Dax, Dane, & Bradlee Brown. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Betty Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy & Velma Trout, sister Doris, brother Andy, Jr., & daughter, Terri Lynn.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all who loved & cared for her throughout the last few years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, Oklahoma.
