Phyllis Gail Fisher

October 20, 1935 — October 2, 2025

Edmond

Phyllis Gail Fisher, aged 89, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving children.

She was born October 20, 1935 in El Reno, Oklahoma to Avis and Paul Dresser. Phyllis was an only child and had many cousins she grew up with. She attended school in El Reno from elementary through high school. During those years she was active in dance, baton, and Rainbows. During her senior year in high school she was crowned Football Queen at the halftime ceremonies at the Chickasha – El Reno football game.

After graduating from El Reno High School Phyllis went on to attend Central State University (now UCO) in Edmond, Oklahoma. It was there that she met Harold Fisher. They were married June 26, 1955 and together they raised three children, Randy, Terri, and Corby.

Phyllis was known for her kindness, her faith in Jesus Christ and her sense of humor. One of her hobbies was sewing and quilting – she made many beautiful quilts. She also loved crocheting and decorating her home. She mastered the art of gift wrapping, putting much love and thought into it. Even if you were getting a pair of socks, she wrapped them so beautifully that you hated to mess it up.

There was nothing she loved more than being with her family. She absolutely loved the laughter at all the family gatherings. She was so proud of her loving family. She beamed with pride when she would talk about her children and grandchildren. There was just nothing sweeter to her and when the great-grandchildren came along – Blythe, Eloise, Evie, Emmy, Ellie and sweet baby James – her family was made even sweeter.

Over the years Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper in her mother’s dress shop, Avis’ Fashion, located on South Rock Island in downtown El Reno. She also did bookkeeping for C. R. Anthony’s for many years and was a clerk at a local pharmacy in Bethany, Oklahoma before she retired. As a pastor’s wife she served in many ways in the church and loved singing for the Lord. She taught herself to play the keyboard and loved singing hymns. She also grew to love country music.

Phyllis is survived by her three children and their spouses, Randy and Debbie Fisher, Terri and Robert Kimberling, Corby and Sherri Fisher, her grandchildren Chad and Whitney Fisher, Kelsey and Tyler Waits, Angela and Brian Guebelle, Shannon Newby, Blake Fisher, Cameron and Lo Fisher, and her great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Avis and Paul Dresser and her spouse Harold Fisher.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Suncrest Hospice care team: Tarek, Layna, Toya and Randy for their care and support during this difficult time. Also to Dr. Darlene Foster for her many years of love and care as Phyllis’ PCP.
