Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Matthews Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 9:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Patricks Cemetery in Edmond.
In loving memory of Raiza Josefina Nuñez de De Carlo (Sept. 14, 1946-May 11th, 2024). She leaves behind her beloved husband Iván José De Carlo Méndez, two daughters Roxana Pribil and Rossemary Stinson together with their husbands Chris Pribil and Chad Stinson, along with six grandchildren, Sebastian Stinson, Angelina Stinson, Joshua Pribil, Veronica Stinson, Rebecca Stinson, and Kateri Stinson, all of Edmond, OK. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Jesús and America de Nuñez of Venezuela and a total of sixteen nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Berta A. Rosas and Andres J. Nuñez, along with one niece Alejandra Morán Lopéz, as well as Six brothers and sisters: Ester Lopéz Rosas, Elsa Lopéz Rosas, Carmen Lopéz Rosas (Surviving Spouse (SS), Jaime Morán), Francisco Lopéz Rosas (SS, Nelva de Lopéz), Freddy Nuñez Rosas and Andrés Nuñez Rosas (SS, María de Nuñez).
Raiza was born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She grew up playing baseball with her three younger brothers with balls made out of old socks and a broom stick for a bat, she recalled her oldest sister giving her a gift of her first doll when she was approx. 13 and she also received a dress that matched her doll. 52 years ago, Raiza married Iván De Carlo on September 24th, 1971. She worked as a Library Technician at The University of Zulia in Maracaibo Zulia State for 25 years. After she retired and her daughters moved to the United States in 1998, she volunteered for 10 years as the church secretary and belonged to the 'Friends of the Minor Seminary of the Archdiocese of Maracaibo' association, which helped gather funds for seminarians from low income families.
She lived a life full in the Catholic faith. She prayed the rosary daily and was devout to the Divine Mercy Chaplet, Mystical Rose Rosary, Precious Blood of Christ and Saint Michael Chaplet. She was part of the Charismatic Renovation where she became aware of the works of the Holy Spirit and fell in love with it, later she joined the Neocatechumenal Way together with her husband. They were chosen by the Parish priest, Fr. Manuel Alvarez, to be two of the only five extraordinary communion ministers at their Parrish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Maracaibo, Zulia State. During those 18 years, they delivered communion to the homebound every Friday. One of the great joys of Raiza's life was going to Mass.
Raiza moved to Edmond, OK in 2015 to be close to their daughters and their families. She studied english and her favorite expression was "WOooW!", which she frequently used with her grandchildren. She loved to dance, vacation in the mountains and enjoyed every "fiesta". She held steadfast to her love of God throughout her illness and wanted to remain at home surrounded by her family while she strived for her heavenly reward. She was filled with Joy, Positivity, and Faith and lived to share it with everyone she met.

Raiza nació y creció en Maracaibo, Venezuela. Creció jugando béisbol con sus tres hermanos menores con pelotas hechas con calcetines viejos y un palo de escoba como bate. Recordaba con mucho cariño siempre que su hermana mayor le regaló su primera muñeca cuando tenía aproximadamente 13 y también recibió un vestido que combinaba con el de su muñeca. Hace 52 años, Raiza se casó con Iván De Carlo el 24 de Septiembre de 1971. Trabajó como Técnico de Biblioteca en La Universidad del Zulia, Maracaibo,Estado Zulia durante 25 años. Después de jubilarse y que sus hijas se habían mudado a los Estados Unidos en 1998, voluntario por 10 años como secretaria en la iglesia a la cual asistía, perteneció a la asociación 'Amigos del Seminario Menor de la Arquidiócesis de Maracaibo', el cual ayudaba a recaudar fondos para seminaristas de familias de bajos recursos.
Vivió una vida plena en la fe católica. Rezaba el rosario a diario y era devota de la Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia, el Rosario de las Rosa Mística, la Preciosa Sangre de Cristo y la Coronilla de San Miguel Arcángel. Formó parte de la Renovación Carismática durante la cual tomó conciencia de las obras del Espíritu Santo y se enamoró de Él, posteriormente se incorporó al Camino Neochatechumenal junto con su esposo. Fueron elegidos por el párroco, Padre Manuel Alvarez, para ser dos de los cinco únicos ministros extraordinarios de la comunión en su Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro en Maracaibo, Estado Zulia. Durante esos 18 años, llevaban la comunión a los enfermos que estaban en sus hogares todos los Viernes. Una de las grandes alegrías de la vida de Raiza era ir a Misa.
Raiza se mudó a Edmond, OK; Estados Unidos de America en 2015 para estar cerca de sus hijas y sus familias. Estudió inglés y su expresión favorita era "¡WOooW!", que usaba frecuentemente con sus nietos. Le encantaba bailar, vacacionar en la montaña y disfrutaba de cada "fiesta". Se mantuvo firme en su amor a Dios durante toda su enfermedad y quiso permanecer en casa rodeada de su familia mientras luchaba por su recompensa celestial. Estaba llena de alegría, positividad y fé, y vivió para compartirla con todos los que la conocieron.
