Becky was born in Mobile, Alabama on January 3, 1950, to Mary and Cecil Broome. She made her way to Oklahoma in 1964 after her papa, Cecil, was transferred to Tinker Air Force Base. She attended the University of Oklahoma where, in her freshman year, she met her beloved husband, Mike. They were married on August 15, 1971, and were inseparable for 54 years. After receiving her teaching degree, she taught elementary school before retiring to raise a family.
Outside of her love for family, friends, and animals, she lived life to the fullest. Growing up on the Gulf, she loved the beach, swimming and watching aquatic creatures. She never missed a PTA meeting, bake sale or Spring Fling. She loved watching her kids play sports, act in plays and dance in competitions. She traveled the world by cars, planes, trains, and ships alike. She also loved quilting, knitting, and needlepointing not only for friends and family but the elderly, cancer patients, and premature babies. All who knew her, loved her.
She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Mike, her children, Ryan and Leigh, brother, Jimmy, and countless other family members and friends. We ask, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the YWCA of OKC, Baldwin Family Village Foundation in Fairhope, AL, Free to Live or your favorite charity.
There will be an informal visitation at Matthews Funeral Home located at 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, OK on Tuesday, November 18th from 5pm-7pm to celebrate Becky’s life.
