Richard Allen Beauchamp, 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his family on November 26, 2025. Born on May 12, 1949 in Lawton, Oklahoma, Richard was the son of Udell and Mary Lou Beauchamp. He grew into a man defined by dedication, curiosity, and a genuine love for the world around him. He graduated from Eisenhower High School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Cameron University as well as getting a commission from the Army ROTC.
In 1971, Richard proudly entered the United States Army as a 2nd Lt, serving his country with honor in the infantry unit. Later in his career within the Army, he became a Green Beret and was in the 5th Special Forces Group until 1978 as a Captain with his last assignment located in Ft. Bragg, NC. His years of service reflected his bravery, discipline, and deep sense of duty. After leaving the Army, Richard worked in a variety of jobs before beginning his primary career as a sheet metal mechanic on the B-1 bomber at Tinker AFB, where he remained until his retirement.
Richard’s life changed forever the day he met his beloved wife, Nancy. Their connection began through a personal ad—one she almost didn’t answer—yet that simple reply blossomed into a beautiful love story. They married in 1990 and shared 33 devoted years together until Nancy’s passing. Their marriage was filled with joy, laughter, and countless adventures. Together, they enjoyed traveling, working on DIY home improvements, playing Chinese Checkers (with Richard usually losing) and spending time with family, creating memories Richard cherished for the rest of his life.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Udell and Mary Lou Beauchamp, and by his wife, Nancy.
He is survived by his son Richard and wife Heather of McLoud, OK, daughter Heather and husband Carlos of Newcastle, OK, daughter Kristi and husband Eric of Edmond, OK, and son Patrick and wife Danielle of Edmond, OK as well as 9 grandchildren. His brother Jim and wife Jonnie of Destin, Florida, brother Randy and wife Kay of Broken Arrow, OK, sister Debby of Carthage, TN and brother Steve and wife Charly of Lawton, OK along with 9 nieces and nephews.
Those who knew Richard will remember his passions. He loved deer hunting and took pride in his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. Above all, he was a true movie enthusiast, whether it was Science Fiction, War movies, Westerns, Disney Classics, or anything in between, movies were one of his greatest joys—a way for him to connect, relax, and share stories with others. He had a fantastic sense of humor, always ready with a smile or a gentle joke to lift the spirits of those around him. He carried with him an endless treasure of quirky, trivial facts, a gift that brought joy, laughter, and a groan to all around him. He was sincerely and exceptionally kind. Richard will be remembered for his loyalty, his warmth, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him and in the legacy of kindness and dedication he leaves behind.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Chris Hayes, all staff in the E-1 unit at the Norman Veterans Center and Bristol Hospice.
