Rev. Richard Louis Gremillion

d. January 25, 2021

March 14, 1940 – January 25, 2021

Rev. Richard Louis Gremillion

entered this world on March 14, 1940 in Pineville, Louisiana. He was the beloved only child of Louis Joseph and Eunice Edwards Gremillion.

He grew up attending the Church of the Nazarene in Alexandria, Louisiana and was privileged to be mentored by godly pastors such as ET Harris, Lewis Mason, and Louis King. These pastors invested time into young Richard's life and helped pave the way for the outstanding voice of the Gospel he would become. He answered the call to preach at age 14. God honored his life of obedience and surrender to the Holy Spirit. No one in his family could have anticipated how mightily God would use this young man to reach the lost for Christ.

At age 16, he met the one and only true love of his life, Carol Jean Neuenswander. They were married on June 15, 1959 and enjoyed 61 amazing years together raising five children, pastoring churches and traveling across the nation proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel in pastoral ministry, evangelistic preaching, and song.

He served congregations in Effie, Louisiana, Port Arthur, Texas, Lawton, Oklahoma, Vidalia, Louisiana, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, Davenport, Iowa, Duncan, Oklahoma, Lewisville, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as a superintendent position in the Southeast Region of the USA.

His unique gift of communicating and his fiery yet lovingly gentle style of declaring God's truth rendered him in very high demand as a speaker for most of his adult years. He remained in demand as a speaker up until the time of his untimely death on January 25, 2021.

Only eternity will reveal the souls who came to know Christ, were counseled through life's difficult times, and discipled in their Christian walk through the ministry of Richard Gremillion. His legacy of loving God, the Word, his family and leading others to a deeper walk with Jesus, will live on through his family and the thousands of others who have followed him in "taking up the cross to follow Christ."

Richard Gremillion is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol J. Gremillion. Daughters Janet Goddard (Chuck) of Hendersonville, TN, Sharon Plemons (Dan) of Edmond, OK, and Dianne Gremillion Schmitz of Edmond, OK. Sons Daniel Gremillion (Julianne) of Celina, TX and James Gremillion (Cara) of Stoutsville, Ohio. Eleven grandchildren Brent, Ellen, Lauren, Andrew, Jared, Cameron, Zachary, Cade, Caleb, Kelcie, and Karis, two grandsons-in-law, and three great grandchildren completed the family picture and were the delight of Richard's life.

Left to mourn his passing are many hundreds of precious friends and extended family.
