Richard Lee Jones
1935-2018
Richard was born in Ashland, Oklahoma on January 20, 1935 to Walter and Ruby Dunn Jones. He completed his earthly race at age 83 at home surrounded by his family on June 19, 2018. He fought a hard battle with Alzheimer's for several years. Richard dedicated his life to God's mission through preaching, his family, and loving others. Richard was blessed to serve in Ada, OK; St. Louis, MO; Houston, TX; Edmond, OK; and Madill, OK where he retired from the ministry. He preached in gospel meetings for 100 congregations located in Oklahoma, Texas, California, Oregon, Arkansas, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. He also led singing for a Jimmy Allen campaign in Canada. He was president of Edmond Noon Kiwanis Club and Madill Rotary Club. He was on the Board of Directors for Sooner Youth Camp for over 30 years, board member for Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp, and Red River Family Encampment in NM for 20 years. His hobbies were his grandchildren, fishing at Lake Texoma for striper, gardening—especially tomatoes, and reading. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Robbie Jones; three children, Rick Jones (Janee), Sherilyn Nashert (Jim), Stephanie Garrett (Pat); grandchildren, Nick (Taylor), Molly, Jimmy, Jon, Kristen (Zak), Ryan, Cody, and Brittany (Nick); along with many beloved family and friends. He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth and David Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Jones. A special thank you to Physician's Choice Hospice (Tessa, Sarah, Jennifer, Heather, Christie, and James), and an extra special thank you to Mary for the love and care given to Richard. Services will be held Saturday, June 23 rd at 2:00 PM at Edmond Church of Christ, Edmond, OK. Donations may be made in his honor to In Search of the Lord's Way or Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp.
