Richard Jim Moody

Richard was affectionately known as Dick, Dad, Poppi and Sweetheart. He was born September 8th, 1940, in Lyons, KS. He graduated from Lyons High School then attended Hutchinson Junior College and Kansas State. He acquired the credit bureau Lyons, KS and then moved to Woodward, OK as he purchased the credit bureau there as well.

Dick has the gift of being a friend and always loving life. He then moved to Shawnee, OK going to work for a local savings and loan branch as Vice President before venturing into the world of real estate owning REMAX in Shawnee and Lawton. After retiring he enjoyed hunting for a hobby and the coffee group he met with each morning. Dick was active in the Chamber of Commerce of Shawnee and the Lions Club of Shawnee. He spent six years giving himself to his country in the National Guard. Since moving to Edmond in 2014 he has been a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church.

Dick peacefully passed September 9 th , 2024, one day after his 84 th birthday. He was a loving husband to his wife, Frances Spears-Moody. He was a loving father to his children, Ryan Moody and his wife Cecilia, of Norman and Kevin, of Oklahoma City. He is further survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Virginia (Richards) Moody, his first wife, Judy, and his daughter Jill (Moody) Michaels.

A service celebrating the life of Richard "Dick" Moody will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16 th , 2024, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond with burial at Lyons, Kansas at a later date.
