Robert Paul Bright
1931-2018
Robert P. Bright, 87, died Dec. 15, 2018. He was born March 31, 1931 in Pittsburg, PA to Paul H. Bright and Marion Neely Bright. Bob graduated from Verona, PA High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Petroleum Engineer Degree from the University of Pittsburg. Bob started his career with the International Petroleum Co. in Talara, Peru. He went with Esso Exploration in Bogata, Columbia. Bob returned to the states with Exxon in New Orleans, LA and worked in Malaysia, Morocco, Norway, Japan and Alaska. He retired from Exxon in 1981 and went with Dual Drilling Co. as Vice President. In 1985, he became VP of Transworld Drilling Co., a subsidiary of Kerr McGee. He transferred over to Kerr McGee and worked as VP of Drilling Operations Kerr McGee Oil U.K. After retirement, her worked as a consultant in Russia and China.
Bob loved flying and held a commercial pilot license. He volunteered with Integris Baptist Hospital for a while. He loved music and played trumpet in OKC Symphonic Band and Friends Band.
Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Towler Bright, 3 nephews and 2 nieces. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James P. Bright.
Services will be held after the holidays. Donations may be made to Integris Baptist Hospital.
