Robert Morrison Fugate "Bob"
1936-2024
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone, Bob Fugate's kind, gentle, and a bit mischievous nature will forever be remembered. He passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024 at the age of 88.
Bob, born on May 23, 1936, grew up in LaFollette, TN. He was the middle brother of 3 boys. Many adventures were had with his brothers in the countryside mountains of East Tennessee. Bob met the love of his life, Marj, on a blind date and they spent 60 happy years together prior to her passing in 2021. They raised two children and cherished two granddaughters. His family adored him. Bob was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church.
Bob graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 1958, where he played football. His engaging personality suited his profession as a pharmaceutical sales representative perfectly, and he won numerous salesmaster awards during his career. He was active in his church. He volunteered his time teaching children's Sunday School classes, coaching little league football, and being a "Band Dad". His playful antics made him a favorite among friends of his children, and his home was always open to them. He was an earthly model of the love of our Heavenly Father.
After retirement, Bob enjoyed traveling, cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Tennessee Vols, attending church and Bible Study Fellowship, spending time with family, and doting on his little dog "Cassie". He leaves behind a legacy of humility, kindness, gentleness and love, He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Jefferson Fugate, parents Wade Hamilton Fugate and Ella Mae Walker Fugate, brother Charles Fugate, and sister-in-law Nancy Fugate. He is survived by daughter Deanna Warzel (Jon) of Edmond, OK; son Stephen Fugate (Susan Hinz) of Mckinney, TX, granddaughters Brooke Meier (Jake) of McKinney, TX, and Liana Warzel of Edmond, OK, and brother Clyde Fugate (Amye) of Jackson, TN.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. The family will be receiving friends following the service.
