It is with great sorrow we announce, Robert "Bobby" Bruce Griggs went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1947, to Velma and Glen Griggs in Oklahoma City. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Bobby graduated from Northwest Classen High School. He attended The University of Central Oklahoma, where he played tight end on the football team. He graduated from The University of Oklahoma, where he was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Bobby owned and operated Oil Filter Company for over 50 years. He was a devoted husband to Tanya Ritter Griggs, whom he married in 1985.
Bobby was an avid golfer, fly fisherman, pilot and outdoorsman. He was instrumental in the founding and development of Friends of Northwest Classen. Bobby's favorite activity was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with them on the golf course and attending all of their events.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Velma and Glen Griggs, and his brothers Wesley Glen and James Griggs. He is survived by his wife Tanya, his children Nikki, Kelly and his wife Tara, Katie, Chase and his wife Madeline and his grandchildren, Arden, Brogan, and Beau, many nieces, nephews, and relatives.
The family will hold a visitation at Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 pm. A celebration of Bobby's life will be held at Oak Tree Country Club on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 5:00pm.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and technicians of OU Medical Center, OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center, and the Oklahoma Heart Hospital for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center or Friends of Northwest Classen in Bobby's memory.
Bobby will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his love of life, his kindness, and his unwavering generosity to those around him.
