Robert "Bob" Lewis King of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on August 14, 2024. He was born August 3, 1938, in Wichita Kansas to Alfred Lewis King and Birdie Lenora King Jackson.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Alice Arlene King on November 18 th , 1956. They would have celebrated their 68 th wedding anniversary this year. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill King, Dean Pitchford, Wesley Pitchford and Jimmy King as well as his sisters Shirley Bideler and Dorothy Cole. Bob was raised in Wichita, Kansas and moved to Oklahoma in 1959. They bought a house in Edmond Oklahoma and lived there for over 61 years and raised all five children in that home. He owned and operated a window and pool company for several years and retired in 2004. Bob loved all types of sports, and he was a die-hard Sooner fan. He loved to play sports, watch his kids and grandkids play and he loved to coach. He loved to travel with his RV group the 89er Club and enjoyed endless hours playing games with them. He loved Oklahoma weather and was glued to the television all storm season. His favorite place was anywhere in Colorado in the mountains. He loved fly fishing, and his favorite place was in the mountains sitting by the river or standing in the stream fishing. He loved southern gospel music and spending time with friends and family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Arlene, their 5 children and their spouses. Bobby and Fran King of Bristow, Oklahoma, Ricky King of Oklahoma City, Curtis & Melissa King of Valley View, Texas, Randy and Lisa Grace of Moore, Oklahoma and Kyle and Rhonda Sifford of Edmond, Oklahoma. He had 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and one great grandson that will be arriving in just a few weeks. He is also survived by one brother, Jerry and Linda King of Wichita, Kansas, a sister-in-law Wilma Pitchford of Edmond, Oklahoma and Mary Lou Carpenter of Rogers, Arkansas and more nieces and nephews than we can count. Bob loved his family and friends more than anything in the world. He was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and his main wish was that all of his family would come to know the Lord.
The visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m., Monday, August 19th at Matthews Funeral Home with family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
