Ron L. Strahan
1953 – 2025
Ronald Lee Strahanwas born on November 23, 1953, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Jim and Wanda Strahan. He had one brother, Jimmy, and the two shared a childhood full of fun, teasing, and the kind of bond only brothers understand.
Ron graduated from Kingfisher High School in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, in 1972, where he was a proud Yellow Jacket athlete, playing football, and baseball. His talent on the football field earned him a scholarship to Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) in Alva, Oklahoma.
It was during his time at NWOSU that he first spotted Judy Lehl, a local high school senior who was visiting the campus with friends for Senior Day. He decided then that he needed a date with her and was able to get her number from a teammate from Alva. It was one of the best decisions he ever made. He and Judy were married the following year and would have celebrated their 50 th anniversary this year on August 30.
After graduating from NWOSU in 1976, Ron began a lifelong career in the oil field industry. On April 9, 1985, Ron and Judy welcomed their first son, Nicholas Lee Strahan. Though Ron was firm about manners—always insisting on "Yes, Ma'am" and "Yes, Sir"—he was also the kind of dad who loved to roughhouse and have a good time. On June 27, 1991, their second son, Tad Corbin Strahan, was born, completing their family of four. Ron was incredibly proud of his boys, and though his job demanded long hours and time away from home, he worked tirelessly to provide them with a secure and comfortable life.
In 2004, Ron stepped into one of his favorite roles—becoming "Papa"—when his granddaughter Teagan was born. Teagan was Papa's girl from the start, and the two shared a special bond. As the family grew, Ron embraced each of his grandchildren with the same warmth and love. He adored them all—Teagan, Paisley, Jaxon, Jase, Haven, Heston, and Hattie—and found so much joy in being their Papa.
Aside from his deep love for his family, Ron had a few other great passions. He was an avid golfer and spent countless days on the course with his buddies, enjoying both the game and the camaraderie. He was also a dedicated football fan, always cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys—faithfully supporting them, win or lose.
Ron is survived by his wife, Judy Strahan of Edmond, Oklahoma; his son Nick Strahan and wife Rebekah of Crescent, Oklahoma; his son Tad Strahan of Denver, Colorado; and his beloved grandchildren: Teagan, Paisley, Jaxon, Jase, Haven, Heston, and Hattie. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy Strahan and wife Charlotte of Whitesboro, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Wanda Strahan, and his father-in-law, Carl Lehl.
Ron passed peacefully at home on May 7, 2025, in his chair watching TV—just where he liked to be.
